Student Profile:
- 15-20 students per day
- Ages 17-20
- Earn grades, credits. and competencies
- Remain a student of their school of residence
Services are provided in the Eau Claire County Jail. McKinley staff contact each student’s school of residence, determine their educational needs, secure a copy of special education plans, and secure materials and homework from the school of residence.
The instructors provide tutoring support, test proctoring, and serve as a liaison to the staff
of other schools. The instructors
also refer appropriate students
to the Eau Claire County
Off Campus Alternative School
or to the McKinley Competency Component.
Individualized academic plans are developed for each student if the student was not successfully attending school at the time of incarceration. The instructors send records, work, and tests to the student's school of residence or to a new facility .
Services are offered year round from 1-4 PM Tuesday through Thursday. McKinley provides these services for the Eau Claire Area School District, which is required by state law to ensure the services are provided. Students may receive services for one day or several months depending are their length of confinement.
